My name is Tony Wallen. I moved to Myrtle Beach from Cambridge City, Indiana back in 1989. I spent the last 34 years in the fire alarm industry. I became over the corporate life, and I was ready to move on to our next chapter. My wife, Wendy, moved down here from Salisbury, Maryland to attend Coastal Carolina in 1993. For the past 25 years, she has been a school teacher. She supported her career decision for years by working in the service industry at several local restaurants. As we were trying to think about what business would most interest us, we got thinking about the things we enjoyed ourselves. For those of you who already know us, you know we love to have our cocktails and surround ourselves with family and friends. We enjoy the finer things in life, but we don’t always want to splurge for them. As we were thinking about our interests, we were also thinking about the need that we could provide Carolina Forest and that’s what inspired the idea for Burnt Barrel. We wanted to provide an upscale liquor store that as my wife would say, “is pretty” but also that is safe with a helpful, friendly staff. We wanted to make it convenient, reasonable, and hassle free. We provide a call ahead service for your convenience and we waive the credit card fees because who always has cash. We are prepared by having chilled wine, chilled champagne, and a variety of chilled mini bottles. We even have single seltzers available because we have all had those days. We want Burnt Barrel to be the place that you look forward to swinging in and patronizing.
